· Mental health concerns

· Emotional support for cancer and other chronic illnesses

· Grief, loss, and trauma

2. What is your approach to counselling?

My therapeutic practice is guided by a philosophical approach, backed by scientific evidence, that is rooted in the belief that we are free beings, responsible for our actions and the choices that we make.

The focus of my approach in therapy is to improve your awareness of your immediate, ongoing experience – the ‘here-and-now,’ and to facilitate your search for meaning and purpose in life.

· Suffering is a part of life, and the therapeutic process will reinforce your free will to choose how to respond to circumstances around you, even the most painful and distressing ones.

· I am here to provide a safe and trusting space that will empower you to explore your assumptions and perceptions of the current situation, to examine your inner experiences – thoughts, feelings, values, and to take actions that enable you to live a fulfilling life that is meaningful to you.

· My approach is called ‘Humanistic-Existential.’ Knowing that each client has unique needs and concerns, I believe in being flexible and adaptive to meet my clients where they are at.

· Though I primarily use the humanistic-existential approach in my counselling, I integrate evidence-based therapeutic interventions and techniques from different approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy that may be the best fit for my client.

· I utilize Mindfulness-based therapy and Musical techniques for holistic healing.

3. What are the benefits and risks involved in counselling?

This therapeutic journey is a joint effort. I invite you to be my fellow traveler and an active participant for our time together to reap the benefits of therapy. Our journey together may result in a number of benefits including, but not limited to,

· Improved awareness and acceptance of self and the surrounding world

· Reduced anxiety and distress

· Openness to experiencing various feelings

· Better balance in professional and personal life

· Higher levels of trust and intimacy in relationships

· Improved capacity to cope with isolation, loneliness, grief, and loss

· Improved interpersonal communication

· Enhanced gratitude, empathy, and compassion

· Increased resilience and personal growth

· Greater clarity of meaning and purpose of life

· Making meaningful choices even in suffering

I would also like to remind you that the therapeutic journey may hit rough seas and you may feel worse before you begin to feel better. I encourage you to explore both your highs and lows during our sessions, as it will aid the therapeutic process.

4. What is confidentiality?

Providing a safe and trusting space is the foundation for building our therapeutic relationship. You have a right to confidentiality which means that I am ethically bound to hold everything that you share during our counselling sessions in confidence.

There are some exceptions to confidentiality and I shall discuss them with you during our initial session.

5. How often would we meet?

· Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes long.

· We will meet once or twice every week at a mutually agreed time.

· Each session that we schedule is exclusively reserved for you. Hence, if you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance of our scheduled session. A 24-hour notice allows me to accommodate other clients’ requests.

6. How much do you charge for each session?

· I use a sliding scale for individual sessions. Please discuss the fee structure with me.

· I invite you to discuss your mode of payment before we begin our first session.

· Please make the payment 24 hours prior to confirm online sessions.

7. How long before we end our Journey?

Since each one’s goals and progress in their journey are unique and different, I invite you to discuss the length of our therapeutic work together which may vary anywhere between 8 to 30 sessions or longer and eventual termination of your journey with me.

Having said that, you may choose to discontinue therapy at any time. If either of us feels that your journey with me is not benefiting you, I will provide you with options for referral to other therapists, who you may consider working with.
